In compounding and masterbatch, the extruder decides: pigments and fillers must be finely dispersed at short residence times, glass fibres need coupling to the matrix, recyclates fluctuate in quality and odour, and in injection moulding demoulding and surface must be right. Additives work in the melt here — a very different world from liquid formulation.
